Mentorship

Mentorship is a developmental relationship where a more experienced or knowledgeable person, the mentor, provides guidance, advice, and support to the mentee.
This relationship aims to foster the mentee’s personal and professional growth, helping them navigate challenges, build skills, and achieve their goals.
In AIKTC SOP Mentorship is typically followed through regular interactions, which include oneon-one meetings, discussions, and feedback sessions. These interactions are formal, with scheduled meetings and specific agendas, with spontaneous check-ins and conversations.
In AIKTC SOP mentorship involves active listening, goal-setting, sharing experiences, and providing constructive feedback. As mentors often gain new perspectives and satisfaction from helping others, while mentees gain valuable insights, knowledge, and confidence

What are a mentor's duties and responsibilities?

Look for someone you believe would carry out the following roles and responsibilities if you’re seeking for a mentor.

Helping mentees in advancing their careers.
Setting goals can aid mentors in assisting mentees in defining their career paths. They create an action plan together in order to accomplish their objectives within a predetermined time limit.
Be a coach.
A skilled mentor is aware of when to coach and when to offer guidance. A coach challenges their students to seek out their own answers. However, a mentor will also offer their mentee job advice based on their own career.
Became an example and a role model.
A mentor is someone whom other people respect and look up to by definition. You should not take this obligation lightly. Make sure your words and actions are consistent.
Offer advice that is constructive.
It’s crucial for mentors to give constructive criticism to their mentees because it’s part of their job to encourage their development.
Serve as an ear for others.
A mentor is present for their mentee at all times. They assist people in developing ideas, overcoming obstacles, achieving their professional objectives, and celebrating successes.
Check in on their mentee’s development.

To hold mentees accountable for any actions they commit to do, a mentor should check in with them frequently.
