Dr. Mohd. Asif Gandhi, Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department at Anjuman-I-Islam’s Kalsekar Technical Campus ran at the recently concluded 7th edition of the Tata Ultra Marathon (50 km run), this time called the Tata Ultra Marathon 2024, which was flagged off at Dawoodi Bora Sanitorium at Lonavala on Sunday, 25th February, 2024 early morning at 1:30 a.m. The run extended upto the Sahyadri range and back. The Tata Ultra Marathon (TUM) is the first certified ultra marathon in India and it is an annual premier ultra marathon event in the Indian running circuit and it is certified by Athletic Federation of India; and its course is certified by AIMS. Runners participate in this event to test their endurance and also as a preparatory practice run (on home land) prior to participating in internationally acclaimed ultra marathons. This year the event attracted more than 3000 Ultra Marathon Runners from all over India and also from foreign countries. The run is known for its extreme slope (inclines) content and had a cut-off time of 8 hrs. He completed the grueling run of 50 km in 6 hrs 42 min 01 sec (06:42:01).
